Spangled Arboreal Octopus

The Spangled Octopus inhabits the mid to upper canopy layer of deciduous trees. Being largely nocturnal, it camouflages itself with a pattern of luminescent chromatophores on a midnight blue background. Being generally reclusive, many people are completely unaware that these cephalopods are present in their own backyards!
